Water water water! You might want to drink less water because urination can be so painful, but your bladder needs to be flushed. Drink as much water as you can, especially at the first sign of symptoms, to flush the bacteria out of your bladder.
-
Warm it up. Heat can help soothe your discomfort. Use a heating pad or a hot water bottle on your lower abdomen and bask in the calming and soothing warmth. Just watch the temperature so you don’t burn or scald your skin.
-
Cut out irritants. Certain foods can irritate your bladder even more. Be kind to your inflamed tissues by cutting out irritating foods like; caffeine, spicy food, nicotine, and artificial sweeteners.
-
Wear loose clothing. This isn’t the time for your favourite skinny jeans, your irritated tissues need some outside comfort too. Opt for yoga pants or better yet, loose pants or a skirt.
-
Try a powerful herbal blend, like Cran*Essence (US/CA). This is a beautiful and complete urinary tract formula, blending juniper berries, uva ursi, yarrow, and calendula in a base of cranberry concentrate. It’s a diuretic (flushes your system), antiseptic (antibacterial), and toning for your entire urinary system.
