The Role of Multivitamins

The Role of Multivitamins

Mind the Gap: Why Taking a Multivitamin Is a Smart Idea

If you eat a relatively healthy diet, you may wonder if you really need a vitamin and mineral formula. After all, all those fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, and lean meats on your plate are there because they’re packed with vitamins and minerals, right? Shouldn’t that be enough? The answer is… probably not.

No One Is Perfect

As good as our intentions are, almost no one’s diet is perfect. No judgment here; we’ve all been there. One day your meals are all healthy and balanced and the next day they’re…well, not so much. And just because you put a wholesome meal in front of your kids doesn’t mean they’ll actually eat it. We all have nutrient gaps on any given day. Some people who are especially vulnerable are:

  • Growing kids, especially picky eaters
  • Women who are pregnant, nursing a little one, or menstruating (and losing iron)
  • Seniors whose appetites have declined or need extra calcium for bone strength
  • Larger folks who have greater nutrient needs across the board
  • Anyone on a restrictive diet (such as vegan or keto) who may be missing out on key nutrients
  • Those who have food sensitivities such as lactose intolerance or difficulty digesting gluten and who therefore avoid foods that supply calcium or B vitamins
  • People who experience loose stool or occasional constipation and may have nutrient absorption issues
  • Folks who don’t get much sun exposure or who have dark skin that limits synthesis of vitamin D

That’s a lot of people, isn’t it?

Our Food Isn’t Perfect Either

It’s a fact of modern life that our food is less nutritious than it used to be. No one is sure exactly why this is. It might be soil depletion from modern farming practices or rising levels of carbon dioxide in the environment. Whatever the reason, a review of 57 studies tracking nutrients in food over the decades found the following decreases:

  • 9% for magnesium
  • Up to 18% for zinc
  • Up to 31% for iron

Yikes!

Nutrients Need Each Other

Another reason to take a vitamin and mineral formula is that nutrients work together. When you’re not getting enough of one vitamin or mineral, it can affect how others function in your body. Consider this: Calcium needs vitamin D to be absorbed. If you’re not getting enough D (and this is a common nutritional shortfall), the calcium you are getting can’t do its job. So now you’ve been shortchanged of two nutrients.

Introducing Our Convenient and Absorbable Liquid Multivitamins for Adults and Kids

Don’t worry. We’ve got a solution: Daily Multi Essentials+ and Kid’s Multi Essentials+, our liquid herbal vitamin and mineral supplements.

Why liquid instead of tablets? Not everyone likes to or can swallow pills, especially kiddos. Liquid formulas are also easier to absorb because there’s no solid pill that needs to break down before it can release its nutrients.

Daily Multi Essentials+ and Kid’s Multi Essentials+ come in a delicious mango, pear, and pineapple juice base you can drink straight or mix into smoothies or juice. Easy peasy, and tasty too. In both formulas, you get plenty of:

  • Antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E for protection from free radicals
  • A range of B vitamins for energy production
  • Vitamin D for immune support
  • Vitamin E in the bioavailable form of d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate
  • Calcium in the bioavailable form of calcium-magnesium citrate

Plus these herbs:

  • Astaxanthin for antioxidant protection
  • Elderberry for immune support
