Making Sure You Have a “Feel Great” Summer

Have fun plans this summer?

If you’re like most, your summer is jam-packed with social events, outdoor activities, and vacation getaways. With all that going on, it’s a real problem when you feel under the weather, especially on a beautiful sunny day. Symptoms like fatigue and brain fog can make you want to stay home with the covers over your head. But then you miss out on all the good times and adventures you’ve been looking forward to since winter. However, by taking a few small steps, you can make sure you have a “feel great” summer instead. Try these tips and let this summer be your best ever!

Stay Hydrated

Because you sweat more during the hot summer months, your body can quickly become dehydrated. Dehydration can make you feel tired, weak, and achy. To keep your organs functioning optimally and your skin looking plump and smooth, drink at least eight to nine glasses of water a day. Bonus: drinking water can even decrease your appetite, making weight loss much easier! Think plain water is boring? Add some low-calorie flavoring to your water like a squeeze of lemon or a healthy, hydrating alternative like herbal tea or coconut water.

Go Outside and Play

It’s one of the best times of year to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Not only is it just plain fun to hit the beach or go on a family hike, you get the added bonus of improved health! You’ll get more fresh air, giving you a huge energy boost. This extra energy is due to getting more oxygen outside than you get from recycled indoor air. Studies show that 90 percent of people feel a surge of energy after spending time outdoors surrounded by nature. Also, you’ll get more natural vitamin D from sun exposure. Vitamin D is essential to a healthy immune system and strong bones. Just make sure to limit your exposure to 5-30 minutes between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at least twice a week. That will give you enough exposure to synthesize vitamin D without burning. Of course, if you’ll be outside longer than that, be sure to slather on plenty of sunscreen.

Keep Your Cool

While getting outside is great for you, when the temperatures get above 90° F, it’s important to protect yourself from problems like heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Both of these conditions are caused by your body overheating, with heatstroke being the most dangerous. Symptoms include heavy sweating, rapid pulse, fatigue, muscle cramps, and dizziness. To keep your cool and stay healthy when the temperatures skyrocket, stay inside in air-conditioned areas during the hottest part of the day, dress in light-colored and lightweight clothing, and take cool baths and showers.

Take a Daily Multivitamin

Winter isn’t the only time you need to support your health with a multi. It’s important year-round. If you struggle with easy bruising, fatigue, or foggy thinking, you could have a nutrient deficiency. Epresat (US/CA) is a delicious, liquid multivitamin that helps the body soak up more vitamins due to easier or more complete digestion. Epresat contains eight essential vitamins and a proprietary blend of potent herbal extracts. Looking for a children’s multivitamin? Look no further than Kinder Love (US) / Kindervital (CA). Kinder Love/Kindervital is a yummy, easily-absorbed tonic that’s packed with vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, as well as key minerals, calcium, and magnesium. This easily absorbed liquid is formulated to support your child’s rapid growth nutritional requirements with an emphasis on bone and immune health. Make this a “feel great” summer, and enjoy all the fun while it lasts!
