I have IBS, and I'm looking for an alternative to Fodzyme enzymes which work really well for me.

Hello Co! Thank you for your interest in our enzymes. While we can't guarantee the effect you'll get, we can guarantee the potency and tell you what we know about what they work on. The Urgent Care enzymes have the most Alpha-galactosidase, which specializes in 'fermentable carbohydrates'. This is the primary one used for GOS category foods, which although not identical to fructans, are in the same family (of oligosaccharides). More research is needed to know how much they help with onions and garlic, but many people tell me they like the results. Alpha-galactosidase breaks down raffinose and stachyose, galacto-oligosaccharides in beans, peas, cabbage, some whole grains, broccoli, and some dairy and other vegetables. In the end, we recommend trying them out for yourself. We look forward to potentially helping you ! If you know the trouble that you have is around the fructan inulin, you may also wish to combine probiotics with enzymes or look more closely at your probiotic choices. Bifido bacteria are known to break down fructans like inulin, so a formula high in bifidobacteria could possibly hold promise.

how long can we take these enzymes. after years I still use it what can happen , is there a health risk overtime

Supplementing with Digestive Enzymes will not change your body's own function or capacity in any way even if used long term.
They are not harmful in any way if used as directed.

However, the product says to speak to a Healthcare practitioner if you plan to use them long term.

That's in part because there may be other medical things going on if you have continuous digestive problems, and a check up is good idea.

For people with ulcers and gastritis, taking digestive enzymes isn't a good idea, and people in general shouldn't be in the habit of taking them on an empty stomach.

We have three Digestive Enzyme formulas. If you're not sure which to start with, I'd suggest Immediate Relief. If that is not strong enough in terms of digesting food well, relieving gas and bloating, etc. Then Urgent Care is the strongest formulation.

Can someone who has IBD particularly Crohn's use this product?

There are no specific cautions against using this product for people with Crohn's disease but there are cautions regarding possible symptoms that could occur with IBD.

CAUTIONS: Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you:
1) are pregnant or breastfeeding
2) have diabetes 3) have
gastrointestinal lesions/ulcers 4) are taking
anticoagulant agents, anti-inflammatory
agents or antibiotics 5) are having surgery.
Consult a health care practitioner if
symptoms persist or worsen. For prolonged
use, consult a health care practitioner.
Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea have been
known to occur, in which case discontinue
use and consult a health care practitioner.
Headaches, heartburn, bloating and hypersensitivity/
allergy have been known to occur,
in which case discontinue use.
