Creamsicles with Mānuka Honey

Is it really summer if you have not had a creamsicle yet? What better excuse to enjoy this nostalgic sweet treat than on National Creamsicle day coming up on August 14th!  And did you know, these creamy, citrus pops have a cool origin story? We can thank an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson for inventing the original creamsicle in 1905. Originally dubbed ‘The Epsicle’, these pops later became known as a popsicle, creamsicle and even dreamsicle. And now, no summer is complete without cooling down with this zesty, creamy treat! Check out our healthy twist on this nostalgic summer pop!

INGREDIENTS:

Servings: 8-10 popsicles depending on mold size (we used 3.2 oz molds)

  • 3/4 c. orange juice
  • 2 tsp. orange zest
  • 2 medium bananas
  • 2 c. plain Greek yogurt
  • 2-3 tbsp. Flora Mānuka Honey (taste test to your sweet preference!)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour mixture into molds, leaving a little space at the top to prevent liquid from overflowing the mold. Insert popsicle sticks and freeze for at least 4 hours. To release pops from mold, lightly run the outer edges under warm water to loosen them up.

Note: don’t forget the citrus zest! This simple but mighty ingredient adds a punch of flavour to these sweet summery pops. This recipe is interchangeable and can be modified to other citrus-infused pops like lemon or lime! Enjoy!
