4 Steps for Healthy, Youthful Looking Skin

4 Steps for Healthy, Youthful Looking Skin
Can we reverse time and bring back the youthful glow to our skin? YES! We can peel years or even decades off our skin with just a few simple steps. First, let’s talk about why our skin ages, and a big part of that story is collagen. Collagen is a protein that gives our skin it’s firmness, elasticity, and the plumpness of youth. We’ve got tons of collagen when we’re younger, but as we get older our collagen production slows down and we begin to show our age. But there are things we can easily do to boost our collagen production, quickly plump up our skin, and get back that glow we had in our early 20s.
  1. Try Some Silica - and Boost Your Natural Production of Collagen

Silica is a very important but little known mineral in the body. It helps to strengthen our bones, give our hair great shine, and strengthen our nails. But it’s also key for youthful-looking skin. Silica triggers the production of collagen in our body, so when we take some extra silica we’re getting a guaranteed boost of collagen. It can be a hard mineral to absorb, so I always recommend supplementing with a water-soluble form of silica from horsetail. My favorite is FloraSil (US/CA), and I noticed a difference after only a few months of taking it!
  1. Get Hydrated

Want to take years off your skin in just a few hours? It’s easy, just drink more water. Most of us are dehydrated from too much caffeine and not enough water, and this quickly affects our skin. Ever look in the mirror after a few glasses of wine and wondered how you got so wrinkly? Those are dehydration wrinkles. Be sure you’re getting enough water throughout the day by looking in the toilet. If your urine is dark yellow, drink more water until it turns a nice pale yellow.
  1. Enjoy More Healthy Fats

Do you want your skin to glow? The simple answer is more healthy fat. Adding fat to your diet will moisturize your skin from the inside out and give it a radiant glow. Try adding 1 tbsp. of Udo’s Oil 3•6•9 Blend (US/CA) to your smoothie or veggie, have some extra avocado on your sandwich, or grab a handful of raw almonds.
  1. Cut Back on the Sweets

Oh sugar, you temptress. Refined white sugar does a number on our skin through a process called glycation. This is where excess sugar in the blood attaches to protein (even to your precious collagen) forming Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) which can cause wrinkles and aging. Keep your blood sugar steady by having lots of fiber and healthy fats with each meal. And keep out all of the sugary drinks, those are the hardest on your skin. With just a few simple additions into your day you can have glowing, radiant, and youthful skin again!
